2018 Influences and Inspiration
2018 brought much turmoil which consequently found its way into my creativity. I found myself confronting the "Me Too" movement by embarking on a series of mixed media female portraits. Digging deep into my pile of papers I began by covering panels with newsprint. Then came drawing and painting to ultimately reveal an image, a female form. These paintings don't have a lot of color the image speaks for itself, each with her own story.
This series evolved into more figures- drawings and paintings on paper. Using mixed media techniques decollage, monoprinting, collage along with drawing using paints and inks. They are more colorful than the female portraits. These figures instead find themselves in colorful bits of collage almost in costumes.
